چکیده

In order to protect fragile shoreline and coastal assets during extreme storms, a combined floating breakwater-windbreak has been proposed reduce both wind wave energies in the sheltered area. The 1 km-long breakwater porous hull with internal tubes allow free passage of water; thereby further dissipating energy. deck structure is designed have slope 25 degrees facing upstream side, arrays cylindrical are placed on sloping form windbreak. A reduced-scale (1:50) model test was carried out flume examine sheltering performance under significant heights Hs = 3.0 m 7.5 peak periods Tp 9.4 s 14 sea states. Both regular random conditions different were considered. It found that transmission coefficients ranging from 0.4 0.6 can be achieved tested conditions. Effective coastal boundary conditions for tsunami wave run-up over sloping bathymetry

An effective boundary condition (EBC) is introduced as a novel technique for predicting tsunami wave runup along the coast, and offshore wave reflections. Numerical modeling of tsunami propagation in the coastal zone has been a daunting task, since high accuracy is needed to capture aspects of wave propagation in the shallower areas. For example, there are complicated interactions between incom...

Numerical modeling of wave run-up along columns of semi-submersible platforms

Wave run-up is one of the most important and effective parameters in designing semi-submersible platforms. Besides unforeseen effects on the movements and response of the platform, wave run up can also cause slamming forces to be exerted on the lower deck of the platform. Therefore, at the first stages of this plan, before running tests on the model of the platform, numerical methods are usuall...

ISPH Numerical Modeling of Nonlinear Wave Run-up on Steep Slopes

Non-breaking tsunami waves run-up on steep slopes can cause severe damages to coastal structures. The estimation of the wave run-up rate caused by tsunami waves are important to understand the performance and safety issues of the breakwater in practice. In this paper, an Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics method (ISPH) method was utilized for the 2DV numerical modeling of nonli...

Sensitivity of jack-up reliability to wave-in-deck calculation

This document represents a study undertaken by MSL Engineering Limited for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to determine the effects of air gap erosion and subsequent hull inundation on a typical Jack-Up structure. A wave-in-deck loading model was developed (" The MSL Model ") and a sensitivity study was performed to assess the important factors affecting the loads generated during inundat...

Rubble Mound Breakwater: Run-Up, Reflection and Overtopping by Numerical 3D Simulation

From the numerical point of view, the complexity of the fluid dynamic processes involved has so far hindered the direct application of Navier-Stokes equations within the armour blocks, due to the complex geometry and the presence of strongly non stationary flows, free boundaries and turbulence. In the present work the most recent CFD technology is used to provide a new and more reliable approac...
